Are You Trippin’? Adventure to Cave Springs, GA

Cave Springs, GA was the location of the very first Urban Run Club “Are You Trippin’?” event. Cave Springs is located just quick hour and a half from downtown Atlanta, GA. Rolater Park is the town’s pride and joy, where you will find many natural springs. People come from miles around to collect water from the main spring that puts out two million gallons of water per day. We all stopped to check out the watering hole and most voiced they would never drink form the spring, the most skeptical of the crew was the first in line post run/walk. After arriving we set up our picnic table and set off for a run up the biggest hill in the park and around through the streets of this quaint town. The run became a nature walk about half way through the course. We stopped to pick fruit, watch fish and birds at a near by lake, pose for pics on a rail car, and city sign. Near the end of our walk/run adventure a handsome gentleman stepped from the side of a church and asked our small group if we would like to join him inside his art studio. Jerry Machinot was actually an prior neighbor to us here in Atlanta before he decided to move his studio to a slower paced town. We were pleasantly surprised and in agreement that his studio space was one of the best/most unexpected surprises for the day.
After our picnic lunch we almost all drank from the spring and toured the cave that is the natural source for the many springs including the one above ground. After the quick cave tour we nearly broke out in a full sprint headed straight to the swimming hole. The water was fresh and cold. With our reminder alarms chiming we all kinda wished we had more time to relax at the pool. We all agreed, we must go back before it is too cold to enjoy swimming in the deliciously cool spring fed pool, that just so happens to be in the shape of Georgia. Great fun was had by all.
